Structural Triangle Language

STL (Structural Triangle Language, sometimes also referred to as Stereo Lithography file)  is a tessellated representation of the surfaces of a solid, using triangles. STL was initially used in rapid prototyping. STL files can be in either ASCII or binary format.

FILE PROPERTIES

For Rapid Prototyping the following file properties are generally preferred:

format:           binary

accuracy:       0.02 – 0.03 [mm]
